Missionary Background Information.

They are experienced in Missionary work, having been Missionaries in Congo (formerly Zaire) and in the Republic of Transkei. As a missionary pilot Jim flew into 14 African countries, and they ministered to many different tribal groups.

Jim was National Public Relations officer for South African Mission Aviation Fellowship, then he went on loan to American Mission Aviation, and flew for them in the central Congo as program pilot, later assuming the work of program director as well.

In 1974 the Cole-Rous's were transferred to the Transkei, in South Eastern Africa, where they flew for S. African MAF and additionally were involved in preaching in almost every denominational church in the capital city of Umtata, Transkei. He was made National Director of the work of MAF in Transkei, later Board Member of MAF South Africa, and Board Member of the Transkei Bible Society. He was also ex-officio consultant to the Secretary of Transport for the Goverment of Transkei.

Rowena started a Bible Club for Kids in our home, which grew to nearly 100 kids each week, and necessitated recruiting teachers and using neighboring homes for classes.

The Anglican Church Seminary became aware of her work and invited her to begin another Bible Club in the Seminary Hall, to reach kids on that side of the city and to train the Seminary Student Priests in Evangelism.

Jim was invited by Rev. Arthur La Gore, Principal of the Church of God Bible School in Umtata, to come in and teach part time, while he was on a year's furlough in Canada. Jim donated his ministerial library to the School on his departure to the USA.

Jim has insight into many different aspects of Missions in Africa.
